It is shut for the foreseeable future after authorities say the type of concrete found can collapse.

The Health and Safety Executive says Raac is now beyond its lifespan and may "collapse with little or no notice"A crown court has been shut for the foreseeable future after potentially dangerous concrete was found.

Since 2018, they have been encouraging those responsible for public buildings to conduct surveys to identify the material and take steps to have it removed if found., the DfE said: "Sudden failure of Raac panels in roofs, eaves, floors, walls and cladding systems would be dangerous, and the consequences could be serious."

Raac has air bubbles inside it and has a limited lifespan. It was used in roofs, floors and walls between the 1950s and 1990s as a cheaper alternative to standard building concrete. The Health and Safety Executive website warns: "If you are responsible for the management, maintenance or alteration of central and local government buildings, you should know whether your buildings contain Raac, and act appropriately to ensure that such buildings are safe."
