⚠️ Accountants are warning people to avoid online services that are charging them up to £7 a minute to connect to the HMRC telephone number

When searching, people are advised to be aware that at the top of search engines, the chances are the top results are paid advertising and not the legitimate number. If something does go wrong and you are put through on a line that is not the Government’s official number and are asked for bank details, do not provide them as this could be a scam.Another issue is repayment agents – third party companies who may charge large amounts to file a tax return for a client, or carry out other tax services that are usually free.
