🌱 How to keep your festive flower in tip-top condition this Christmas
is incomplete without poinsettias in many households – but they can disappoint unless bought wisely and given the right conditions in which to thrive.from heated indoor displays, ideally choosing newly delivered plants, and have the plant wrapped before taking it home. Avoid leaving plants in the car while you do other errands. Chilled plants can shed bracts and leaves.
At home, poinsettias prefer 16-21°C and a coolish room is better than a hot one. They won’t tolerate draughts. They need plenty of light near a bright window to retain the bract colour. Dry, centrally-heated rooms are often too dry – especially if positioned near radiators or open fires. Standing them on a tray of damp pebbles can help keep humidity up.Even more so than with most houseplants, watering is key.
