Huge '12 car' crash sparks long M6 delays - live updates
One lane of the M6 is closed in Wigan this Boxing Day afternoon following a crash.
The accident has occurred between junction 26, for the M58, and junction 27 for Standish. Queues are forming in the area, according to reports. Traffic monitoring service Inrix posted the following update at 2:17pm. It said: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M6 Northbound from J26 M58 to J27 A5209 Crow Orchard Road . Lane one and two have been closed."'It looks like Christmas has been sick all over my 70s house - it's not to my family's taste but I love it'
Police later confirmed that '12 cars' were involved in the smash. A tweet posted five minutes after that Inrix update said: "We now have two lanes closed on the M6nb J26 - J27 for a 12 car damage only RTC."
