Central Bay will feature a terrace and room for 600 people
A huge new waterfront food and drink destination, with a sun terrace and a host of food traders and restaurants, is to open at Salford Quays this summer. Called Central Bay, it will be spread over 25,000 sq ft, with space for 600 people.
The teams behind the award-winning food halls Cutlery Works in Sheffield and the GPO in Liverpool are behind the food hall area, which will be called Kargo and will feature 13 kitchens and four independent restaurants. Plans are to launch the £3.5 million project this summer. As well as kitchens and bars, the development will also boast ‘indie markets’, pop-up events, live music performances and recreation space for kids. Meanwhile, the terrace will offer views of the city and Old Trafford football ground.
“It will be truly unique and a celebration of local food, drink and art – which is what we know, from the Salford Vision 2030 research piece, local people want to see and access. Central Bay will add another dimension to MediaCity and Quayside and will bolster its growing reputation as a leading leisure and cultural destination.”
