Some Manchester Airport passengers returned to find their cars had completely disappeared

Holidaymakers were told a meet and greet firm was 'safe and secure' before leaving their cars and flying out of Manchester Airport. The firm was run by Mohammed Isaq and his family and operated from their home in Hale Barns.

Running their own meet and greet service across a number of different companies, customers would never see where their cars were parked after they were driven away. They were promised CCTV, flood lights and 24/7 staffing. His car was covered in mud and the bonnet and front wing mirror were scratched. He complained and met Amani Khan, Isaq’s daughter, who called herself the manager. She signed a document admitting liability for the damage.“Put simply, customers were paying for a service that they did not receive, and which they would never have agreed to had they known the truth,” prosecutor Adam Pearson told Manchester Crown Court.

Khan added: “We are fully insured and we are probably the most secure independent car park at Manchester Airport. But we are not geared up for organised criminal gangs, who have been planning this for months.” One woman had booked parking for her car with Manchester Meet and Greet Ltd for 17th to 22nd August 2017, paying by card. Having dropped her car off at the terminal as arranged, she returned on August 22 and called the company in order for them to deliver her car back to her.

A woman and her husband also booked with Car Park Manchester, noting the security features advertised. They returned from their holiday on August 28 and after a lengthy wait, were told their keys had been stolen.Their daughter’s boyfriend collected them, before the woman returned a few days later where she dealt with ‘Mr Khan senior’.

He returned to Manchester to be told several excuses as to why the company couldn’t return the car. He was eventually told there had been a break-in and was given the address.'Your car has been involved in an incident' Another man was on holiday when he received a call from the police to say his company car had been stolen and had been involved in an incident. He called the company who were ‘dismissive’ and reluctant to tell him the truth.

The parking of vehicles at Davenport Green Hall at that time was prohibited by planning enforcement, Manchester Crown Court heard. The parking accreditation, issued a few months before, was withdrawn in September, but advertisements on the website continued to promise secure parking facilities. It was full of cigarette ash and rubbish, the alloys had been scratched, a tyre was flat and the cigarette lighter was not working. There were Rizla papers, tobacco and cannabis in the car, and it stank of cannabis and tobacco.
