RIP Stuart and Claire
Inquests have opened into the deaths of an elderly couple who died in a Nottingham crash. Married couple Stuart and Claire Balmer were both killed in a crash involving a minibus on Bramcote Lane, Wollaton on March 20.
Neena Sharma, assistant coroner for Nottinghamshire, opened inquests into both of their deaths at Nottingham Council House in Old Market Squareon Friday, August 11. Ms Sharma explained Mr Balmer was 72-years-old when he died on Bramcote Lane. He was identified by his son, Robert, who confirmed it was his father to the attending police officer at Queen's Medical Centre on March 21. A post-mortem examination has been carried out and the provisional cause of death was recorded as 1a - multiple injuries.The inquest was adjourned after the opening for the completion of further inquiries and will be resumed for a final hearing on September 25, 2023.
Ms Sharma then opened the inquest of Mrs Balmer, who she explained was 70-years-old at the time of her death on Bramcote Lane, Wollaton. She was also identified by her son Robert at Queen's Medical Centre on March 21. A post-mortem examiation has been carried out and the provisional cause of death was recorded as 1a - mutiple fatal injuries, the inquest heard. The inquest was then also adjoined for further inquiries, with the same final hearing date of September 25, 2023.
