Fisher said the formal application was submitted 'just recently' and wouldn't put a timeline on a relocation vote by MLB owners.

that would build the team an estimated $1.5 billion park in Las Vegas, with about $380 million coming from taxpayers. Gov. Joe Lombardo has signed the bill into law.The team announced in April it had signed a “binding agreement” to build a new stadium in Las Vegas and a

in May to build a $1.5 billion stadium on part of the Tropicana Las Vegas resort site, where the A’s now intend to move forward.that the timeline to vote on the A’s potential move “depends in large part on how quickly the A’s can get their formal relocation application together.” The application will first be reviewed by MLB’s relocation committee before eventually heading to a vote by team owners, which will require 75 percent approval.

“The whole reason that we’re building a new stadium is so we can have not just a competitive team, but, we hope, a team that can have the kind of success, for example, that the Golden Knights have had, winning the Stanley Cup in six years,” Fisher said. “The A’s have had a more challenging time signing free agents because we haven’t had the revenues to support a payroll to do that. We expect that being in a new stadium, being in Las Vegas is going to change all of that.

Fisher added that he expects the team’s revenues to be “considerably higher” in Las Vegas. “That will enable us to have a higher payroll and keep our young talent around, as opposed to sadly seeing them go to other teams, and it will allow us to be out there signing free agents.” Asked whether there is a timeline for where the A’s will play after the 2024 season, Fisher said: “Our focus here has been working toward the relocation to Vegas and the question of what then would be the A’s home going forward. Our lease expires at the end of next season, and that is something that we and Major League Baseball and our fellow owners will work closely on determining.”
