I’ve spent 30 years telling people that the Gin Blossoms’ “New Miserable Experience” is an alt-country-pop-rock classic, not the typical flotsam of a one-hit-wonder. Now I have a platform, and I can use it to speak to the millions upon millions of people who read these power rankings: Hey, you, the Gin Blossoms were always good!
Also, there aren’t a ton of Arizona bands. Rob Halford of Judas Priest has lived there for a while now, but I dare you to find a Priest song that fits into the context of a team scrambling to catch up to the third-place team while being miles behind the first-place team. “Breaking the Law” isn’t gonna do it, unless the Diamondbacks start messing around with trash cans.Until they fall away, though, the Diamondbacks are still talented enough to make some noise.
