Firefighters had to stand down on Monday evening and were expected to return to the Dunbar site this morning.
A landfill site has gone in flames in East Lothian opposite a major Scots road with firefighters continuing to battle the 'large scale fire'.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue raced to the scene at Dunbar Landfill Site opposite the A1 dual carriageway at 1.40pm on Monday, August 28, and crews were at the scene until late last night before they were stood down to return this morning.A tweet from the SFRS last night read: "We are currently in attendance at a large scale fire at Dunbar Landfill Site opposite the A1. Our crews will remain on scene until the area is made safe.
Images from a nearby town show huge flames in the distance as smoke can be seen rising from miles away. Top news stories today A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service added: "We received the call at around 1.40pm this afternoon and the fire is still smouldering but crews have just stood down.
"They will return during daylight. There were three appliances present during the height of the fire."
