Letter turns up 80 years after it was sent as recipient left baffled by what was inside
He added: "We've shared it with some and there's already been some interest. They've started conversations amongst themselves and begun reminiscing, as well as finding more materials during that time."Kevin also stated that a lot of the residents at the home have been locals to the area their whole lives, or have come from further afield and may be able to share their experiences of being evacuated from large cities during the war, or have relatives that did.
He continued: "It's a morale boost, I know these things can be reproduced but it's great for them to see something sent in their time period, that's been written on similar paper they'd have written on and used a stamp they might have used if they've sent something from abroad."groups to try and find any living relatives of the sender or recipient of the letter and delve deeper into the 80 year mystery.
The letter was sent to Greenroyd, which at the time the letter was sent in 1942, was a private residence. This was before it became Greenroyds care home and then more recently, The Sands Meadows, now part of The Sands Care Group.
