There's a chance to try the food at an event this weekend
They could be described as one of Nottingham's best kept secrets but Syiok-Lah is set to be on more food lovers' lips after being named runner-up in the British Street Food Awards. Specialising in authentic Malaysian cuisine, the street food stall serves up classic dishes with a modern twist.
After five regional heats 16 finalists competed in the final, each presenting two dishes to the line-up of judges. Syiok-Lah served up a storm in the competition, narrowly missing out to champions, Fife-based Choola, which serves flavours from the streets of Nepal.Syiok-Lah, which has appeared at Bustler Street Food Market in Sneinton, Dunkirk Community Centre, and The Garage, in Chilwell, set out to wow with one of its specialities - Nasi Lemak.
The British Street Awards grand final took place at Hackney Bridge in London, with judges including pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her husband Richard Jones and Hackney's Michelin-starred chefs Tom Brown and Andy Beynon.
