Jonathan and Susan Letby attended court every single day of their daughter’s ten-month trial before her conviction but, like Lucy, didn’t show for sentencing.
A heartbreaking decision Lucy Letby made years before her horror killing spree left her parents devastated. Earlier this week the 33-year-old nurse learned she will die in prison, reports the Daily Mirror.
Her own parents, Jonathan Letby, 77, and Susan Letby, 63, attended court every single day of their daughter’s ten-month trial before her conviction. Jon, a furniture boss, and Susan, an accounts clerk, even relocated from their Hereford home to rent a flat closer to Manchester Crown Court. Letby became the first member of the family to graduate - with a BSc in Child Nursing from the University of Chester in 2011 - and the couple were so proud of her that they took out an advertisement in the local paper.
However, the killer nurse made one heartbreaking decision that left her parents heartbroken. They “hated” the fact that after university their only child didn’t return home once she graduated.
