Paul McQuade faces a total of 18 charges in connection with the incident

A 38-year-old man has been remanded into custody accused of ramming into a police patrol car in west Belfast.

Paul McQuade appeared at Belfast Magistrates’ Court in a wheelchair to face a total of 18 charges connected to the incident.McQuade, of Fishermans Lane in Killough, Co Down, is accused of aggravated vehicle taking causing injury, failing to stop for police and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

McQuade is alleged to have taken a Vauxhall Mokka SUV without the owner’s consent before a PSNI patrol tried to intervene.The driver mounted a footpath in a bid to avoid them and struck a constable’s arm before making off.
