It could make up for one of the wettest July months on record followed by a mixed bag of sunshine and rain in August
The Met Office says the UK could enjoy a 'hotter than average' September with temperatures hitting the mid-20s.
Forecasters said that, as we approach hurricane season in the Atlantic, the weather can become increasingly “unpredictable” as tropical storms push drier and warmer conditions our way. While temperatures are unlikely to exceed the annual high of 32.2C recorded in Surrey in June, the country might still enjoy hotter-than-average weather next month.
The long-range Met Office forecast for August 28 to September 6 reads: "Monday is likely to bring some rain for southern and eastern areas early on, then turning generally drier with just occasional showers. Rather breezy, with some cloud and rain arriving into the west of the UK later.
