Andrew Phimister failed to notify the authorities of his whereabouts or housing status 'within three days' of his release from prison
A convicted sex offender who was sent to prison last month for abusing staff and customers at two Morecambe cafes is now back in jail.
Andrew Phimister was handed an eight week prison sentence on September 12 for assault and breach of notification requirements. The defendant, of now fixed address, would have spent the first four weeks of his sentence behind bars before being released on licence for the final four weeks. Morecambe Area Police confirmed today that Phimister was hauled before the court again on October 13 and given a new 24-week prison sentence. This follows two offences of section 4 public order and one count of failure to comply with notification requirements.According to court listings, the notification breach relates to Phimister's failure to notify the authorities of his whereabouts or housing status 'within three days' of his release from prison.
In a statement on Facebook, PC Katie Foster said: "This sends a message to the residents and businesses of Morecambe that we will not tolerate anti-social behaviour in and around our town. Please feel free to email your local Community Beat Manager with any concerns you wish to raise or discuss."
