Zoe Cooper believed she was parking in a free zone when she left her car in Ormskirk
Zoe Cooper was shopping in Ormskirk on Sunday, July 23 when she decided to leave her car at the Two Saints Retail Park in the town. Looking at the signs to see how to pay, she says they were "a lot to process" and decided to Google the car park instead.
"It wasn't bringing up the car park, it said invalid code, so I thought I don't know what's going on. So I went over to the actual machine where you pay and that's all coins, so I was looking around trying to get the right amount of money. I got it, but then by the time I put in the car registration, I couldn't progress past that point with the machine. The machine just seemed faulty.
However, it was exactly two weeks after her visit that she received a letter and fine through the post. Zoe replied with an appeal to parking company Parking Eye on the day that she received her fine. A Parkingeye spokesperson said: “The car park at Two Saints Retail park features 15 prominent and highly-visible signs throughout providing information on how to use the car park responsibly. The signage advises that customers of the retail park are entitled to one hour of free parking and that tariffs apply thereafter, with a maximum stay period of three hours.
