NC500 tourists share crucial tips to avoid midge bites as swarms invade in summer
Scotland is known for its wild and rugged scenery, but our beautiful landscape which tourists travel miles to see is often plagued with pesky swarms of midges in summer.
It is crucial to prepare as best you can for midges regardless of what is listed on the forecast, though, which is what led one traveller to take to the NC500 Facebook group to ask for advice.View gallery The tourist heading to the Scottish Highlands for the North Coast 500 asked fellow travellers on tips to repel midges, and was soon inundated with suggestions.
One Facebook user wrote: "Long top and trousers. Cover as much skin as possible. Midge hats with the net. Gloves."
