The Malibu UK Nationals will be held at Xtreme Wake, Grendon Lakes this weekend
Competitors will be battling it out to become British Champions at the Boat Wakeboard and Wakesurf Championships in Northamptonshire this weekend. The Malibu UK Nationals will be held at Xtreme Wake in Grendon Lakes near Northampton from Friday to Sunday with entrants ranging in age from under 10 to over 50.
“We're very excited to be holding the National Championships at Xtreme Wake for the very first time,” said Jeremy Nevill, Chairman of Wakeboard UK, which is organising the event. We have been working with the team there for some time on this and it’s going to be an awesome venue. "With the course running past the viewing area, spectators can look forward to seeing some spectacular riding and surfing behind the Malibu 23LSV”. In wakeboarding, national titles will be awarded to males and females in different age categories - with novice and intermediate categories for those that don't wish to compete against the nation’s best in the Open competition.
Meanwhile in wakesurf, there are categories for both skim and surf-style boards. Entering the national competition is a proviso of being included in the Team GB Squad so there is bound to be some top-level riding and fierce competition this weekend.Many of those taking part will be hoping to do enough to secure selection for international competitions in 2024. They include the IWWF World Championships, and the Europe & Africa Championships.
