A driver has denied attempting to kill eight people with his vehicle in the car park of a pub. Jake Wallis, of Retford, pleaded not guilty to eight counts of attempted murder when he appeared from custody at Derby Crown Court on Monday, September 25.
As reported by Derbyshire Live, he was dressed in black trousers, a white shirt and a tie and supported by family members in the public gallery. He was told he will face trial on all of the charges later this year, with it expected to last three-to-four days. Remanding him into custody, Judge Shaun Smith KC said: “The prosecution wishes to try you on the allegations of attempted murder and that trial will take place in November in front of Judge Bennett.”Derbyshire Police were called to a report of a dispute outside the Nags Head Hotel in North Road, Clowne, just before 12.30am on Sunday, June 4.
“Jake Wallis, of Retford in Nottinghamshire, has been charged with attempted murder.” The defendant, of Cocking Lane, faces trial at the same court on November 27.
