People are still out of pocket
The company behind an iconic Lancashire hotel which has sat empty for more than a year could be wound up in court.
That decision was sparked by a soon to be abandoned plan to use the hotel, which is based next to the former Camelot Theme Park site, to house asylum seekers awaiting application decisions. An angry response saw that plan dropped but those who had booked weddings were left in the lurch, thousands of pounds out of pocket and with their venue not available.
In a new development, the company which bought the hotel - Park Hall Hospitality - now faces being wound up thanks to a compulsory strike-off notice issued to Companies House. LancsLive understands that this action has been led by Manchester-based Goldcrest Finance. In the background of all this, staff who worked at the hotel were forced to find alternative work and the grand building remains locked up and unused. Meanwhile, those owed money for weddings remain frustrated over a lack of answers and now wonder if there was ever any intention to repay them as promised.
