It's got a lot going for it
An affluent Lancashire village whose history includes a King Charles II visit and a wartime factory with its own rail station is described as the “perfect” place to live by its residents.
In its centre, businesses include convenience stores, a bakery and deli, and more takeaway options than you might expect in somewhere of its size. The local fish and chip shop, Skippers of Euxton, is owned by Andrew Crook who also serves as President of the National Federation of Fish Friers. The village’s history stretches back to at least the 13th century and its significance was noted in 1301 when it was granted market charter by King Edward I. Euxton Hall was its manor house and King Charles II stayed there while travelling south in 1651. The hall has been rebuilt since then and is now used as a private hospital.
“When we did manage to buy it a few weeks ago, he told me he remembered every room and what was in it. He knows it so well from when his father worked in the munitions factory, where the training ground is used for their sports and social club.
