The Delta Air Lines flight declared a mid-air emergency over Glasgow and performed a U-turn above the city, returning to London Heathrow. The reason for the alert is not currently known.
Flight DL187 was flying from London Heathrow to Los Angeles when it declared the emergency. The flight left London at 5.31pm this evening.
The Airbus A330-900 suddenly performed a U-turn over Glasgow and returned to London. Flight tracker data by Flightradar24 said: "London-Los Angeles is turning around over Glasgow squawking 7700. Reason currently unknown."
