Another application to demolish The White Elephant pub in Cathcart has been submitted after an earlier one was rejected for being 'poorly designed' and 'overdeveloped'.
An initial plan to knock down The White Elephant on Merrylee Road was submitted earlier this year but was rejected for being 'poorly designed' and potentially leading to the area becoming 'overdeveloped'.
White Elephant Property Ltd said the pub was 'unviable' and 'under-utilised' in their submission to the planning team. They claimed there is “adequate existing local provision of facilities of equivalent community value close by”, with six pubs within one mile.Another attempt has now been lodged including a new design from PLC Architects and includes reducing the number of apartments from 20 to 12.
