Blackpool Pleasure Beach sneak peek at Valhalla reopens for new season
Take a sneak peek at Valhalla as this "extraordinary" ride edges closer to reopening. It has been confirmed the wildly-popular ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, which has been shut for almost four years,The news was confirmed at an elaborate launch event for the seafront theme park's 2023 season, which begins on Saturday, March 18. LancsLive was then given a first look at the ride, which has undergone a huge £4m revamp.
The Viking-inspired coaster, which takes place in near-complete darkness and boasts fire and water, is the only ride of its kind in the world. Fans have been desperate for news on its reopening, with Valhalla special in the sense that from the outside it is impossible to fathom what drama goes on behind the giant, smoking, fire-breathing wall.Pleasure Beach CEO Amanda Thompson CEO told LancsLive: "I am relieved because I have been so frustrated with the delays.
"It is just an extraordinary ride. There is no other ride like it in the world, it was created in Blackpool and we had so many amazing people working on this ride." Valhalla will open for 'technical rehearsals' in April. Riders will board a longboat and journey into a parallel world guided by a bold and brave Viking Ivàr. There, they will encounter the spirit of Odin and pass into the afterlife to try to make it to Valhalla. On the way, they will face all the elements - fire, ice and lots of water.
