Police were at the scene in the early hours of this morning

In a tweet posted at around 2.35am today , motorway police said they were 'dealing with youths throwing cones, bricks and stones' as passing cars. The children were spotted on the motorway near junction 5, close to Manchester Airport.

Police said they were also there the night before, sparking them to ask parents 'do you know where your children are?'. Officers said a number of vehicles had been left damaged.The tweet posted by the North West Motorway Police said: "An age old question, do parents know where their children are? "We are currently dealing with youths throwing cones /bricks and stones at passing vehicles on M56 around junction 5, they were there last night and are here again, a number of vehicles have been damaged."Read more of today's top stories here
