Weddings are supposed to be joyful, memorable, emotional – special in every way. And it’s these high expectations that encourage grooms and brides to go toSo what happens if you later realise that day could have been much more special if it had been… totally different? Looking back, the flowers were OTT and horrendously overpriced; the dress you tried on and decided was ‘the one’ was a huge mistake.We had a very untraditional wedding in 2013.

My biggest regret though? The husband. The relationship ended in March 2021 after eight years married and 19 years together, and although we own a business together, holiday together and are friends most of the time, we separated. Hopefully, I’ll get the opportunity to do it again properly, one day, now that I’ve solved the number one problem.ditched a lot of traditions – we had no bridesmaids, no hen do, no best man, we had no band or DJ, and I didn’t throw the bouquet.

It looked great from the front but the back was awful. When I got the photos back it made me cringe and feel embarrassed. I was pretty gutted. I don’t know why nobody told me it looked s**t when we were getting ready in the morning.I should have asked them to remove the boning on the back. When I sat in the wedding car I sat on the bones and they buckled because they were too long for my body. It meant not only did it not look great from behind, but I spent my honeymoon with weird bruising.

A while later, when looking for a creative outlet during lockdown, I found a calligraphy course and loved it. I still regret my sign, but I feel like I’m making up for it by helping others make theirs less cringe.Jane’s son was 10 months old when she got married In August 2019 I married my soulmate in a 1000-year-old church in a beautiful ceremony. We spent months planning every detail of our DIY luxury wedding and hired two professional photographers.
