Not a lot of notice
Residents were left queuing for significant periods of time at water stations across Lancaster and Morecambe after United Utilities cut off supply to homes across the city and town area.
"Our neighbours did come to us to ask what was going on, because they didn't seem to get the message we got, so maybe they're not on social media as much. So they kind of missed out that way, so we got a lot of enquiries." John didn't seem to mind that the water supply had been cut off in the area, saying that reserving water is good. But he did hit out at the way it had been handled. He said: "To be honest with you, it's good because we've got to try and reserve water at some point anyway, but it kind of shows us how bad it can be because they could have foreseen this quite easily.
Elaine was on her way to collect someone from the Church will overlooks the water bottle station. We asked her if having no water has been a problem so far, which she said it hasn't yet, but soon will be. The atmosphere was positive around the stadium, with cars following the system to collect their bottled waters from the many United Utilities staff members waiting to hand them over. Julie was there collecting water, having walked to the pick-up point to collect her bottles.
