The cafe has launched a special breakfast offer before it closes
Customers have expressed their sadness after the owner of well-known tea room announced it will be closing down next month. Alfie's Tea Room announced on Facebook with "great regret and heavy heart" that Friday, May 5, will be the last day of trading.
Alfie Nathoo took over the property near the Toton Lane tram stop, in Stapleford, in September 2021 with plans to turn it into a jazz-inspired cafe due to his love of music, having sung on TV commercials, at London's Barbican Theatre and even for the Royal Family. The post said: "It has been an amazing journey with laughs, live music, parties and memories that we will cherish in our hearts forever.
"Thank you to all our loyal customers that came through our doors whatever the weather. It will be very difficult for us to move on from this but I am sure that time is the best healer and that everyone will remember us from in a positive light."The cafe will be closed over the bank holiday weekend but from Tuesday, May 2, to the final day it will be running a special offer of buy a large breakfast and get a second half price.
Customers are sad about the closure of the cafe, which was previously Lady Jayne's Tea Room. One said: "It's a real shame. We'll be sorry to see you go. It was the best afternoon tea in the area. I'm glad we were able to lunch there last week. Good luck in the future." Another replied: "I am genuinely so sorry to hear this. You have done an amazing job at creating a lovely cafe! Always felt like a valued customer and thoroughly enjoyed every meal and every coffee."
