Experts have claimed that bearded men are more attractive than those who have smooth faces. The Daily Star has been looking into the science behind the claims as today is World Beard Day.
According to website Bossman, having a beard can be great for accentuating your face’s attractive features. They write: “Due to their position on the face, a beard can accentuate your jawline, giving you one worthy of a movie star.
As well as confidence, beards are seen as known to be a sign of masculinity since a strong jawline is supposedly correlated with a higher level of testosterone. Many women find masculine traits very attractive, so growing a beard may definitely help you in that department. A study in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology says that the majority of women view men with stubble as more attractive for short-term flings than men with full beards, which were seen as the most attractive for long-term relationships. Investigators asked 8,520 women to rate photos of men for physical attractiveness in general, for a short-term or long-term relationship. They manipulated the images to morph their facial hair from clean-shaven, through light and heavy stubble, to a full beard.
