The fostering service's rating has dropped

Labour councillors said they have “serious concerns” over the “damning failures” noted in an Ofsted inspection into Northamptonshire’s fostering service. Run by Northamptonshire Children’s Trust , it was rated inadequate by the regulator in a report published on Tuesday.

The fostering service's rating dropped from requires improvement since Ofsted’s last inspection in October 2021. Inspectors found multiple problems, including infrequent contact with children and staff struggling with “relatively high” workloads. The service looks after about 500 children.Coun Danielle Stone, shadow cabinet member for children’s services on WNC, said: “This is a report that paints a picture of a service that is in trouble.

"Social workers are under pressure with caseloads that are too high, with technology that is clunky, where too much time is spent travelling to visit families and not enough time spent with families.”
