The man first made contact with prostitute Mirella Kovacs online in January as she was offering sexual services in Carlisle.
A Glasgow sex worker blackmailed and took almost £10,000 from a married man while threatening to tell his partner of their secret hotel rendezvous.
“Put simply, she threatened to reveal the complainant’s arrangement to meet her to his wife.” Kovacs’ contact with him became a “bombardment” with calls and messages several times a day, the court heard. Mr Evans explained how the blackmail came to an end soon after the McDonald’s payment. He said: “The day before the complainant had been sent a video message of the defendant ordering a taxi to his business address.
Kovacs later demanded either £2,500 up front or a daily £150 until that total had been accrued, claiming she needed money to pay for medical care for her mother in her native Hungary.
