In this article, Roche outlines a novel method by which one can streamline their KAPA RNA workflowsthrough the utilization of ribodepletion.

Sponsored Content by Roche Sequencing and Life ScienceAug 22 2023Reviewed by Alex Smith Since the emergence of RNA sequencing, laboratories and sequencing organizations have faced a significant challenge in terms of the extensive time required for ribosomal RNA depletion and RNA library preparation.

As a result, a more streamlined and efficient process is achieved, delivering high-quality, ribodepleted libraries and sequencing metrics while reducing reagent and plastic consumption. Figure 2. The % aligned reads is similar with both workflows. Image Credit: Roche Sequencing and Life ScienceFigure 3. The % of reads that represent residual rRNA remains very low with both workflows. SARS-CoV-2: The grasping fingers of the viral N proteinSARS-CoV-2: The grasping fingers of the viral N proteinImmediately after the infection of a cell in the throat or lungs, the SARS-CoV-2 virus works very hard to replicate, using the human cell's metabolic pathways to produce its proteins and make sure that its genetic material (the RNA genome) is copied. The RNA genome is then packaged very compactly into new virus particles that are released from the cell to infect more cells.
