Teachers boycotted classes to rally at the SECC in Glasgow as pay disputes continue.
However they remain fully prepared to continue making “short-term losses for the long-term gain” for all teachers.
It comes as Scottish Secondary Teachers’ Association and NASUWT union members in 17 local authorities ditched classes on Wednesday, with action in the other 15Teachers who walked out aimed to send a message that they are willing to keep making sacrifices for a “wage restoration”. “The request for a 10% increase for all teachers – even the highest paid – is not affordable within the Scottish Government’s fixed budget.
The event in support of the People’s Plan of Action follows the recent publication of the STUC report Scotland Demands Better: Fairer taxes for a fairer future.
