Surrounded by breathtakingly brilliant terrain and panoramic, sweeping, colourful landscapes fit for a canvas in your living room, the traditional inn is a real haven for hikers, cyclists, ramblers, fell walkers and runners. The beautiful slate-stone pub boasts 12 acres of land which include mature gardens and pastures, an extensive outdoor seating area and beer garden, and a car park.
The establishment, which is currently run by Jane and Neil Walmsley for the National Trust, has comfortable, country-style bedrooms, open fires and a vital inclusion thanks to the Cumbrian weather - a drying room all set in an acre of garden. It was originally a farmhouse before being converted in 1832.
