A recent study revealed 61 per cent of drinkers in the UK do so in excess over the festive season
People are being warned to check their drinking habits throughout the festive period as experts explain the 'red flag' signs of a functioning alcoholic.
The research team at Private Rehab Clinic Delamere have investigated how much people are spending on alcohol during each week of the festive period. According to their research, those who binge drink during Christmas and the New Year consume 22 units or more of alcohol a week while spending an eye-watering £62.55 on wine or £41.20 on beer.Meanwhile, those who drink cocktails and spirits will spend £50 and £51 a week.
