This hidden gem café can only be accessed by walkers and cyclists, or, as some regulars like to, via paddleboard

Tucked away among the trees on the water's edge between Urmston and Sale lies a converted shipping container serving up freshly roasted coffees, homemade pies and delicious sweet treats.

The couple decided to join forces with friends Dane and Jennifer Smith, who despite working long hours in the emergency services at the time, were keen to help bring it to life. "I grew up with Brian and Jackie’s daughter and I had horses on this bit of land with them, so I was aware that they always had the perfect spot for it," reflects Jennie.

"In the beginning it started as an escape from lockdown, especially for us, and even today it still is," adds Jennie. On days off, we’ll still go walking around here and we’ve built up a strong community around us. Walking into the wooded area where the outdoor café lies, the area is decked out with simple but colourful planters, tables and chairs, and huts where you can take in the riverside views. Much bigger than when it started, the café itself now spans two forest green shipping containers where customers can pick out their sweet and savoury treats.

"All our cakes and vegan offers are made by a lady locally, and she’s amazing, plus we have our own blend of coffee."
