The King Edward beaches tend to be quieter than Eastbourne’s central strand, and have magnificent views towards the soaring chalk cliffs of Beachy Head.They don’t make them like Favoloso any more – this retro ice cream parlour, all Formica tables and shiny chrome, has been plying the people of Eastbourne with gelato for decades. Walk it off along the promenade, passing grand Regency houses, seaside kiosks and the Wish Tower, a 19th-century fort built in the event of an attack from Napoleon.
