Travel chaos on M74 as section of motorway to be closed for 13 nights due to works
Drivers have been warned to prepare for disruption on the M74 with multiple closures set for next month.
The motorway closures will take place on the northbound carriageway between Junction 6 Hamilton and Motherwell, and Junction 5 Raith will be closed for 13 nights. There will also be three daytime closures of the Hamilton Motorway Services on and off slip roads.Traffic Scotland has said the closures were scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic and are required to ensure road user and road worker safety.
Access to the motorway services will be restricted during the three daytime closures with only one of the motorway services slip roads being closed at any time. A local diversion route will be in place for Hamilton Motorway Services via the back entrance at Mote Hill, Hamilton. Road users are asked to plan ahead and check Traffic Scotland prior to travelling at these times to check their route.
