Belarussian leader Alexander Lukashenko said on Friday that he had twice warned Prigozhin to watch out for his life
“The first time was when I phoned him and negotiations place while they were marching on Moscow,” Lukashenko told state news agency Belta.
The UK’s Ministry of Defence has cautioned that while there is “not yet definitive proof” that Prigozhin was onboard the plane that crashed north of Moscow, his presumed demise is credible. It added: “His personal attributes of hyper-activity, exceptional audacity, a drive for results and extreme brutality permeated Wagner and are unlikely to be matched by any successor.”
Russian authorities investigating the crash have not yet officially confirmed the identities of the 10 bodies pulled from the wreckage.After 24 hours of silence, Mr Putin on Thursday sent “sincere condolences” to the relatives of those on the jet and described Mr Prigozhin as a “talented businessman” who had “made serious mistakes in life”.
