There could be higher bills this winter - despite the price cap dropping
Millions of households are being warned they could pay more for their bills this winter despite Ofgem reducing the price cap.
However, experts have warned that households could still pay more on their bills due to the government no longer offering its support for bills through the winter months. Last winter, the government's Energy Price Guarantee capped bills at £2,500 and also provided grants between £66 and £67 to help supplement bills.The standing charge has also risen from 74p last winter to 83p this year, which adds just under £3 per month to bills.
