Thug locked partner inside room at Formby Golf Club during vicious assault
Ricky Hamblin locked his partner inside their room at Formby Golf Club during a vicious drunken assault, in which he left her face bloodied and bruised and caused her to gasp for breath as he throttled her. But the heavily convicted thug has promised a judge that he is "not gonna mess up again".
When she started shouting for assistance from the balcony of the room, he "pulled her back in" and hit her several more times to the head and face. At one point, the victim "sought refuge" in the bathroom. Hamblin, who was found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis, was abusive towards officers however, saying he would have "punched them if he had not been handcuffed". Under interview, he said he "couldn't remember a thing" but accepted that Ms Kelley's account would be truthful.
"The other tragic feature about this defendant, and it is why the defendant has had a difficult life, is the fact that both his parents were murdered when he was a teenager. It is perhaps no surprise that the defendant developed an antecedent background."
