The works are expected to be completed this week

A local councillor has welcomed a reduction in roadworks after it caused disruption for commuters in the area. National Grid roadworks, in place from Annesley bypass to the roundabout at Top Wighay Farm, between Linby and Hucknall, have been reduced after a new traffic management system was put in place.

The roadworks were put in place in connection to the new £22.8 million county council office at the development site which Mr Shaw added that he had voted against. In an email to Councillor Shaw, Highways bosses said: “National Grid has shortened the lane closure on the A611."The lane closure at the roundabout will remain in place. Works are expected to be completed by the end of next week.

"The main complaints seem to be that there appears to be a larger than needed amount of roadworks and that National Grid also appears to be doing no work. Residents understand that National Grid needs to do its job but any work – especially in locations like this need to be swift. A county council Highways spokesman said: “National Grid is currently working to upgrade the network on the A611 Annesley Road, requiring lane closures. Following reports of delays, our coordination team engaged with the contractors delivering the works to reduce the traffic management on-site and minimise delays for road users.
