Nine-year-old Saul Fenemore, who plays for Carnoustie, joined the squad in France ahead of their momentous 45-17 victory against Tonga on Sunday.

A young Scots schoolboy who turned his life around after discovering a love for rugby has joined his heroes on the pitch at the 2032 World Cup.

The nine-year-old, who was described as having "very little drive and ambition" before taking up the sport three years ago, now hopes to represent Scotland one day. The Angus youngster was picked to join the national side as a Defender of Tomorrow Mascot after showing true dedication to the sport. Pictures of the youngster show him clutching his chest as he belted out Flower of Scotland alongside the team before kickoff.Proud mum Stephen Smith added: “The whole thing was fantastic. Saul and my expectations were far exceeded. The management of the event was fantastic. We both had the experience of a lifetime.”
