A blue badge holder has been left fuming after being hit with a fine for stopping on yellow double lines for ‘two minutes’.man from Worksop, claimed he was only setting up his GPS to make sure he got home safely after dropping off his friend at the Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
The 43-year-old drove to the airport on September 29 last year, and left the parking area after saying goodbye to his friend.‘I went down the roundabout and I stopped on a public road which had a double yellow line,’ he told Nottinghamshire Live.According to the government website, badge holders may park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours, but in general not where there are restrictions on loading or unloading.
‘And then I saw a guy who started filming me. I just started my GPS as normal, removed my blue badge, and then asked him if he was filming me. And then he said it was an offence.’Delrich claims he did not stop his vehicle on the airport premises, but on a public road.‘At the airport, they gave me 15 minutes in the proper parking space. So I dropped off my friend and said [to myself] there is no time to put the GPS [on].
‘I did not want to put the GPS [on] while driving which is wrong. So I just drove to this adjacent road and stopped on a double yellow line.
