A crowd of people were seen outside
Passengers were forced to evacuate part of Manchester Airport today with bus services kept away from the scene. Firefighters were seen outside the airport's bus and rail station earlier this afternoon .
Travellers were also told to leave the building, with a crowd of people with suitcases huddled outside the station at around 12.45pm. Manchester Airport confirmed that an evacuation had taken place earlier today. The evacuation followed a 'false alarm' and the incident has since been stood down, a spokesperson for Manchester Airport said. Local bus services were unable to access the airport while the evacuation took place.A spokesperson for Stagecoach Manchester wrote on Twitter: "Routes 43/103/313. Due to the evacuation of Manchester Airport, services are not able to gain access, 43 and 103 will terminate and start at Wythenshawe and 313 will terminate and start from Pointing Dog.
A Warrington's Own Buses spokesperson tweeted: "Diversions are in place on the X5 at Manchester Airport. Unable to serve the Airport bus station at the moment due to an evacuation." Stagecoach later confirmed that services were able to run in and out of Manchester Airport shortly after 1.15pm. Passengers were also allowed back into the station building.
