The looming battle for Kherson will be fiercely fought and Russian forces are already digging in, a senior Ukrainian official has said. Sky's adamparsons has the latest from Kyiv 👉 📺 Sky 501, Virgin 602, Freeview 233 and YouTube

Updates from John Sparks in eastern Ukraine and Dominic Waghorn in Moscow. Live reporting by Emily MeeWe reported earlier on Russian official Alexei Pavlov's comments to the Security Council that Moscow should focus on"desatanising" Ukraine - and war experts have dug a little deeper on this.

Mr Pavlov had said the goal of the war should be"complete desatanisation" and that Ukrainian society is defined by"fanatics" who seek to abandon values held by the Russian Orthodox church, Islam and Judaism. Ukrainian emergency service members are seen here scanning for land mines and other unexploded ordnance in Ruska Lozova, Kharkiv region.

And - in an even bigger blow to the two countries - the peace prize is being awarded to three winners who have campaigned against the Russian and Belarusian governments. Some 20,000 to 30,000 volunteer commandos were left behind when the West pulled out of Afghanistan last year. Aleksey Pavlov, the council's assistant secretary, claimed Ukraine has turned into a"totalitarian hypersect" where citizens had abandoned Orthodox values."I believe that with the continuation of the special military operation, it is becoming increasingly urgent to carry out the desatanisation of Ukraine," he said.

On Monday, an explosive device damaged the railway near the village of Novozybkovo in Russia's Belgorod region. For the last eight months, 73-year-old Valentyna has hidden in a basement every night as air raid sirens have become a daily routine. The group has arranged the space so they can have their own corner, bringing stuff from their homes to make the shelter more liveable.

Mr Prigozhin has denied ever criticising the Russian Armed Forces, but he has made repeated public attacks on his country's Ministry of Defence.Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov complained the Russian response to claimed Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory was"weak", adding that Moscow should"erase Ukrainian cities from the earth". A massive crater and a pile of debris have been left behind by a missile strike on a petrol station in Dnipro.
